The Sun newspaper is already hated amongst Liverpool fans and they’ve done themselves no favours with their actions this weekend.
Of course, the hatred stems back to when the tabloid printed the headline ’The Truth’ following the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, where they blamed Liverpool fans for the death of 96 supporters.
There was never going to any coming back from their shocking statements 27 years ago.
And they’ve angered Liverpool supporters once again after they released a report on defender Dejan Lovren. The report claims that the Croatian defender missed Euro 2016 because his troubled relationship with his wife.
Not only is this report an invasion of a very personal issue for Lovren, the ‘exclusive’ certainly comes as a surprise. That's considering Croatia manager Ante Cacic had a very public falling out with the centre-back ahead of this summer's tournament.
Therefore, Liverpool supporters have reacted furiously after the newspaper have decided to ‘expose’ Lovren’s issues with his marriage.
As you can see by the reaction, many believe that it’s this report that saw Jurgen Klopp snub a reporter from The Sun in yesterday’s press conference following their friendly against Barcelona.
When the Liverpool boss declined to speak to the journalist, many believed it was related to Hillsborough, but his comments suggest otherwise.
“I don’t talk with The Sun anymore. I don’t speak with The Sun anymore,” he said.
“It’s not because I’m Liverpool now, it’s because of a few things which will happen in the next few days or weeks, I don’t know. It’s not personal, but you’re still working the The Sun, right? That’s it. You can listen and write what you want.”
Fans have put two and two together and believe Klopp took a stand because the report that was about to be released regarding Lovren.
