The wait for Manchester United fans is almost over.
After months of speculation, Paul Pogba is imminently expected to rejoin the club for a fee thought to be in the region of £89 million.
But it hasn't just been the fans who have been eagerly anticipating Pogba's return, the current Man United stars have also been affected by the considerable saga.
The Red Devils released a statement on Sunday afternoon to announce the French international has been granted permission to have a medical at the club, just hours before Jose Mourinho's team beat Leicester 2-1 to win the Community Shield.
And Luke Shaw has revealed what the latest update on Pogba's transfer has had on the rest of the first team.
When asked if morale in the dressing room had improved, Shaw responded: “Of course, but it has been going on for so much time now I think there was always going to be a possibility of that coming around soon.
“And we as players obviously knew that because there is a lot of talking that goes around.
“But of course seeing that today there was a good mood around the squad."
Knowing they are about to be joined by the most expensive player in football history, United's stars will be feeling even more confident heading into the new season.
Mourinho's arrival, accompanied by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has revitalised the team and Sunday's win over the Premier League champions suggests there is every reason to be optimistic if you're a Man United supporter right now.
Shaw, who missed most of last season after a double leg break, believes Pogba will be the last piece of Mourinho's Man United jigsaw.
He added: “Everything in training has been looking sharp. There are a lot of happy faces and new faces that are coming into the training ground obviously and with the news about Pogba I hope the medical goes well and we see him in training on Tuesday but there is a real buzz about the place and we are all raring to go now.”
