New WWE Title belt set to debut at Summerslam.

WWE Universal Championship belt idea leaked online

Published 1 Comments

When the WWE announced the creation of the new WWE Universal Championship as the top tier belt for the Raw brand the rumor mill immediately went into overdrive.

The initial question was which two WWE Superstars were going to face off in the first match for the title. This was quickly resolved when the same night the title was announced, there were a series of matches on Raw that saw Finn Balor emerge to take on Seth Rollins for the belt at Summerslam.

The topic of discussion then immediately turned to the belt itself and as yet the design of the title has not been clear. Reddit user Dvizzle (Da Belt Guy) claims that sources inside the company have revealed to him what the belt will look like.

As you can see from the link the title is basically a play on the current WWE World Championship that is held by Dean Ambrose on Smackdown.

That belt currently has a black background behind the WWE logo, but if reports are to be believed that will change after Summerslam.

The new design uses the primary color from each show to give the belts a unique look while keeping the basic design the same.

This allows the red (Raw belt and the blue (Smackdown) belt to be obviously and immediately different, while not giving on the prestige boost of clearly being better looking than the other.

For the brand split to be a success the two brands have to be seen as being equally worthy of being watched. Creating identities around the titles would be a solid first step in that direction.
