Rusev will defend his title in Brooklyn.

United States Championship match announced for Summer Slam

Published 2 Comments

Summer Slam is really starting to take shape with matches like Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler and Sasha Banks vs Charlotte already announced.

There is still a lot of space left to fill on the show and tonight saw the announcement of another title match for the big event.

A new champion ahead?

Last week we saw the United States Champion Rusev confronted by the somewhat surprising figure of Roman Reigns.

That continued tonight as Rusev and his new wife Lana tried to celebrate their wedding for the second time.

Wedding segments on RAW certainly don't tend to end well and for Rusev and Lana it was the same story.

Reigns appeared during the segment claiming that Rusev needs a best man and the leader of the Roman Empire was more than happy to help fill the void.

Following the events in the ring in which his wife got a face full of cake, Rusev was livid backstage and complained to general manager Mick Foley that Reigns needs to pay for what he has done.

A clearly annoyed Foley however granted Reigns his wish and named him as the number one contender for the US Championship at Summer Slam.

Reigns and Rusev will clash at Summer Slam with the championship on the line and you would have to think that given the much more positive reaction to Reigns in recent weeks, the leader of the Roman Empire surely has to be the favourite.
