Norwich will be without defender Jonathan Grounds for the visit of Derby on Saturday after Middlesbrough recalled him to the Riverside Stadium.

The 20-year-old had started the Canaries' last two games at left-back but Boro boss Gareth Southgate has called him back early from his three-month loan.

Manager Glenn Roeder said: "We have been hit hard with a double whammy with Dejan Stefanovic being suspended and now Jonathan Grounds has been called back to Middlesbrough."

He added: "If I was Gareth I'd do the same. I had a good chat with him and he was happy to leave him here but he has injuries and suspensions of his own.

"At one stage we were double handed and now the cupboard's been left bare. But that's life."
