Januzaj has struggled at United recently..

Manchester United decide to seek loan exit for Adnan Januzaj this summer

Published 5 Comments

With Paul Pogba’s world record move to Old Trafford now confirmed, rumours of a Manchester United exodus have once again reared their head.

While Bastian Schweinsteiger proves the most frequented name, few players have been void of links to an exit. With his game time at the club dwindling by the month, Adnan Januzaj proves such one such player.

Moreover, it appears Jose Mourinho has reached a conclusion as regards to the future of the Belgian. He may be poised to leave the club it seems, but not on a permanent basis.

Bursting onto the Premier League scene in 2013, Januzaj appeared to be the next big thing at Old Trafford. His match altering brace against Sunderland that year saw him become a regular under David Moyes.

However, the arrival of Louis van Gaal saw the 21-year-old’s United career tail off. Consequently, the Dutchman was keen to ship him out on loan to Borussia Dortmund in 2015.

Januzaj’s fortunes didn’t improve in the Bundesliga as his unspectacular performances limited him to three starts. The winger was eventually recalled, but LVG invested minimal faith in the returning loanee.

Consequently, the Belgian’s recent history doesn’t display great promise to Mourinho and led many to believe the Special One would ensure a more permanent solution.

Loan preference

This isn’t the case though however. The Manchester Evening News report that Mourinho would prefer a second loan exit for Januzaj.

Despite the Portuguese tactician reportedly informing the player that he does not feature in United’s plans for this season, he’s avoiding a rash decision.

The example of Pogba proves that jumping to conclusions too swiftly with young players can prove a costly error. Januzaj is certainly no Pogba, but Mourinho is giving him a second chance to prove himself regardless.

In a summer that has seen Schweinsteiger annexed, such a verdict of Januzaj appears surprisingly lenient. Nonetheless, for the future of the club, it could prove a wise and calculated decision.
