Liverpool have signed a former Galactico.
Unfortunately, it is just as a scout and arguably even more disappointingly, it is Jonathan Woodgate.
We totally understand if you had forgotten that Woodgate was once in Real Madrid's ranks alongside David Beckham, Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane and Raul between 2004-06.
Much like most of his playing days, injuries limited the number of opportunities the Englishman was given at the Bernabeu and the 36-year-old finally called time on his career after being released by Middlesbrough earlier this summer.
Liverpool have been quick to snap him up and view Woodgate as a useful figure to look for potential talent in Spain and Portugal.
It isn't the first non-playing role the former Stoke and Tottenham defender has held as he is also an ambassador for his most recent club in the northeast.
The Reds are hoping that Woodgate's presence in his former hunting grounds across Spain will improve the calibre of player they can attract to Anfield.
The club have struggled to match the same star signings of Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina during the mid-2000's since falling out of regular Champions League contention over the last few years.
However, there is fresh optimism surrounding the club under manager Jurgen Klopp and splashing out on Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum has made their intentions for the new season crystal clear.
So Liverpool fans will be keeping a very close eye on any deals that materialise from either Spain or Portugal over the next few years as Woodgate settles into his new post.
In the meantime, the supporters have been reacting to the announcement that one of the most injury-prone players on the planet has joined the club. Here are some of the best tweets:
