Manchester United kick off their Premier League campaign today with a trip to AFC Bournemouth.
It’s the start of a new era for the Red Devils, who have a new manager and a squad that is much improved from the one that Louis van Gaal constructed.
As a result, many are tipping United to win their first title since 2013. Rio Ferdinand included.

United’s spending for the summer hit the £150 million mark earlier this week with the arrival of Paul Pogba, who joins Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic among Jose Mourinho’s signings.
The United boss has brought in some much-needed quality to his squad and, as a result, Ferdinand can only see his former team lifting the trophy in May.
The former defender reckons Manchester City, reinvigorated after Pep Guardiola’s arrival, will run their neighbours close in the title race, with Jose Mourinho eventually coming out on top.
There’s no room for Arsenal in Ferdinand’s predicted top four, Chelsea and Tottenham finishing third and fourth respectively.
“The presence of Mourinho and Guardiola at the two Manchester clubs is the main reason why I see United and City as the teams to beat in the Premier League this season,” the ex-England international reasoned, per the Manchester Evening News.
“These two guys are the ultimate winners in the game over the last decade and they will not come here asking for time to get it right.
"They will say they want to win the Premier League title in their first season and that is what you expect from winners.
“Mourinho has changed the mood around United very quickly. Speaking to the players and the staff, they all like what they are seeing from the new management team and the players will feel a freedom compared to what they have been used to under Louis van Gaal over the last couple of years.
“Confidence, belief and hope is returning for the players and the fans. You can put that down to Jose Mourinho.”
