After winning the Most Improved Player award at the back end of last season, C.J. McCollum was rewarded for his fine improvement with a max contract extension from the Portland Trail Blazers worth $106 million. The extension will come into play at the end of next season and will see his annual salary rise from $3m to $23m.

His improvement was one of the best we've seen in the history of the NBA and was one of the main catalysts behind Portland's ability to remain in the playoff picture despite losing four of their starting five from the previous campaign.

Having seen his minutes rise from 15.7 a game to 34.8, his points average went up from 6.8 to 20.8 while his assists rose by 300 percent and his shooting percentages from the field and behind the three-point line were also better.

However, in the world of social media, people will always find a reason to complain about something. One user took to Twitter to question McCollum over the manicures and pedicures he gets with his girlfriend, and the shooting guard's response was brilliant.

He simply put: "I can give you 106million reasons why I'm heading down the right trail." Boom. Roasted.

Having set the benchmark, fans will be expecting more of the same from the Ohio native. Alongside Damian Lillard, they formed one of the most feared backcourts in the league, but maintaining that level is harder than achieving it in the first place. Only time will tell if he can continue.
