Twitter reacts to Bastian Schweinsteiger's selfie at Manchester United game

Published 25 Comments

There can be little doubting that the Bastian Schweinsteiger saga has been one of the biggest talking points at Old Trafford this summer.

Even with the captures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, the treatment of the German is never too far from the headlines. After all, a man who won the World Cup just two years ago is seemingly being exiled.

However, Manchester United fans have rallied in support for the 32-year-old after his latest Twitter post. In cheering on his teammates against Southampton, he has received prominent props from supporters.

Even though the issue has caused friction between Mourinho and supporters, it appears unlikely that the Special One will change his mind. Whatever his reasons may be though, it certainly seems misjudged.

After all, although Marouane Fellaini is experiencing a renaissance in Manchester, does he really trump Schweinsteiger as a holding midfielder? It’s fair to say you’d struggle to make such an argument.
