After what proved to be a disappointing spell at Liverpool, Christian Benteke was officially given a fresh start today when his transfer to Crystal Palace was confirmed.

However, after becoming the butt of jokes at Anfield over the past season or so, the Belgian striker has immediately opened himself up to yet further ridicule from fans of all clubs after one of the biggest cock-ups we've seen in a long time.

Clearly eager to let everyone know about his move, Benteke's Twitter account was updated this morning to reflect his move to Palace. Unfortunately, there was one glaring issue with his changes - his bio claimed he was now a Burnley player. Scroll down to see the embarrassing mistake.

The striker's account now proudly proclaims he is part of 'CPFC & Belgium national team'. However, that wasn't the case early on Saturday morning as screenshots prove.

Probably not the best way to ingratiate yourself with your new fans, Christian!

Safe to say supporters of Palace and other clubs were quick to notice the spectacular faux-pas.

While he might not be quite sure where he has ended up after leaving Liverpool, the 25-year-old will be hoping he is able to prove his doubters wrong on the pitch now that his £27 million move is official.

He may have fallen out of favour at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, but, before his move to Merseyside in July 2015, Benteke was considered one of the most effective strikers in the Premier League.

His physical style of play served him well during his time with Aston Villa, and Palace fans will be hoping he can rekindle the kind of form that led to Liverpool spending over £30 million on him in the first place.

Just so long as he knows to turn up at Selhurst Park rather than Turf Moor, there is no reason why the Belgian international can't prove himself a solid acquisition for Alan Pardew's men.
