Many English football fans hoped that Antonio Griezmann might be playing in the Premier League this season.
The Atletico Madrid superstar was linked with a big-money move to Manchester United and Chelsea earlier this summer before ending the speculation over his future by signing a new five-year contract with the Colchoneros.
Griezmann enjoyed another superb season in La Liga and the Champions League last season, scoring 32 goals in 54 appearances for Atleti, and also secured the Euro 2016 Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament awards as France reached the final.

However, despite his own individual achievements, it’s been a rather traumatic few months for the 25-year-old.
Griezmann lost out in the 2016 Champions League final against Real Madrid, hitting the crossbar with a penalty, and then failed to inspire Les Bleus to victory over Portugal in the Euro 2016 final.

Griezmann on those two defeats
Asked which defeat hurt the most, Griezmann told Gazzetta World: “I want to begin by saying that it was a very good year for me both personally and as part of the team, despite losing in two finals. I’m sure that both me and my teams will come back even stronger.
“That said, the most painful defeat was the one in the Champions League. It was a big blow because it came on penalties and getting to the final had been a long road. We had been trying since September… but we will return.”
Griezmann: Three teams can win the Premier League
Griezmann also likes to keep an eye on events in the Premier League. His brother, Theo, is a big Manchester United fan and now Antoine has more of an interest in how the Red Devils are performing with his close friend Paul Pogba back at Old Trafford.
The world-class forward believes there are three teams capable of challenging for the Premier League title this season: the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea.
Griezmann continued: “Last year nobody could have imagined that Leicester would win it but this time, I see it being a fight between City, United and Chelsea under Antonio Conte.”
Griezmann: Four teams can win Champions League
And the Frenchman also named the four clubs that, in his opinion, will challenge for the 2016-17 Champions League title.
“Hopefully Atletico!” he added. “We have great confidence in ourselves that we can repeat what we did last year but win the final this time. Then there are teams like Bayern, Barca and Madrid who are almost certain to get to the semi-final.”
