With frustration at Arsenal's lack of activity in the transfer market hitting an all-time high during their 0-0 draw with Leicester City yesterday, Arsene Wenger has finally updated fans on the chances of signing top defensive target Shkodran Mustafi.
The Gunners have been linked to the German centre back for weeks now as they look to add much-needed experience to their back line. However, now two games into the new campaign and with just days left until the transfer window slams shut, Mustafi remains a Valencia player.
Speaking to French TV station SFR Sport, however, Wenger has finally commented on his top target and, for once, he provided a slight glimmer of hope for frustrated Arsenal fans.

"Mustafi? We hope it will be done," the long-time manager said, via Sky Sports.
"He is one of a number of players we are looking at. Negotiations are ongoing."
It might not be a confident announcement that a new defender is finally on his way to the Emirates.
Nevertheless, the fact that Wenger is finally willing to admit Arsenal are in negotiations and he is hopeful the German international will sign has to be marked down as some progress.
Of course, this is no guarantee that Mustafi will be an Arsenal player by the end of the month. Negotiations over the price for the 24-year-old have long thought to have been the sticking point in recent weeks.
Valencia are looking for around £25 million pounds for the defender, and, now that Wenger has confirmed talks are ongoing, it all comes down to whether the Gunners are willing to pay up.
Having seen their club fail in bids to sign the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Alexander Lacazette this summer because of their hefty price tags, they will be desperate for that not to happen here.
While Wenger may be 'hopeful' of a deal for Mustafi, Arsenal fans would be forgiven for being a little more wary given what has gone on in recent weeks.
