Randy Orton went into SummerSlam hoping that he could get a win over 'The Beast', Brock Lesnar.
He left the WWE's second biggest pay-per-view of the year missing a lot of blood after some incredibly stiff elbows from Lesnar caused a brutal-looking gash to open up on The Viper' forehead in the closing stages of the match.
The match had to be called off and the win was given to Lesnar via TKO after Orton was left in a heap in the middle of the ring with a large pool of blood growing around him. The WWE have now released a statement on the incident.

While not exactly giving away much information about Orton's condition, the WWE did reveal how they treated The Viper's injuries.
"WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton has received 10 staples to close a laceration on his forehead following the brutal assault by Brock Lesnar that resulted in a TKO at SummerSlam," they wrote.
To go along with the statement, the WWE also released a slideshow of pictures showing Orton backstage being treated by the medical staff.
Here are some of the pictures from that...
Now that looks painful. I'm not sure what would have hurt more, however, the vicious 12-6 elbows from Brock Lesnar that caused the cut in the first place, or having 10 staples put into your forehead to close it up.
We will have to wait and see what the future holds for both Orton and Lesnar.
Seemingly, Lesnar will be written off WWE television for the next few months - probably in the form of a suspension - because he is a part-timer, while Orton could appear on SmackDown Live on Tuesday night to address the incident, potentially alongside Shane McMahon, who was F5'ed by Lesnar as well.
