NXT Superstar set to be called up soon.

Potential WWE main roster plans for Samoa Joe

Published 2 Comments

The WWE main roster is still paper thin after the brand split and another wave of NXT call ups could soon be happening to bolster both Raw and Smackdown.

One of the first in line for a main roster call up must be the now former NXT Champion Samoa Joe.

Joe lost an epic battle to Shinsuke Nakamura on Saturday night at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II. The back and forth struggle ended when Nakamura hit a second Kinshasa to finally put The Samoan Submission Machine down for the count of three.

The Daily Wrestling News is reporting that when Joe does get called up to the main roster he will be on the SmackDown Live roster.

It is a fit that makes sense as SmackDown is seriously lacking in star power and Joe is an established name that can be booked as a dominant heel as soon as he moves to Tuesday nights.

In many ways NXT has been lucky to keep Samoa Joe for as long as he has been in the developmental territory. Joe has wrestled all over the world and with runs in RoH and TNA he already knows how to control a crowd and own the ring.

Fans will be hoping that down the line we get to see Samoa Joe resume is feud with Finn Balor after the two put on some incredible matches in NXT. Balor though is a Raw brand wrestler, so the resumption of that rivalry will have to wait.

Instead fans can potentially look forward to seeing Joe lock up with some of the best on SmackDown. Joe vs Cena would be an amazing first feud, while Joe vs Dean Ambrose could tear down the house.

Elevating Joe to main roster status could also in time lead to the much desired monster vs monster clash with Brock Lesnar.
