The main event of this year's SummerSlam has been the topic of online debate over the past few days with many fans wondering whether or not it was planned to end as brutally as it did.
Whilst everything that happened regarding Brock Lesnar's fierce elbow shots was reportedly all planned to happen, it seems the outcome of the match became the subject of a debate between Triple H and Vince McMahon.
The duo both had an idea of who they thought should come out on top in Brooklyn and both men had difference answers. It is reported that the debate went on until as late as Sunday before it was finally decided that Lesnar would win the match.
BROCK'S PART TIME STATUS A PROBLEM?
Triple H reportedly wanted Randy Orton to win because The Viper would be around following SummerSlam so WWE could then build another story of his victory. It was also said to be because he and Triple H are good friends and he has seen that Orton's well documented behavioural issues earlier in his career have since improved.
There is also the problem that allowing Brock to win the match following his failed drug test before UFC 200 also sends out the wrong message to members of the WWE Universe and Triple H was well aware of this but it seemed all of these problems were outweighed by Vince's desire to allow Lesnar to remain undefeated.
Obviously, it was Lesnar who did come out on top after a badly timed elbow cut Randy Orton's head open and The Viper was deemed unable to continue when the result was announced as a win for Lesnar via TKO.
SHOCKING SUMMERSLAM ENDINGS?
This year's SummerSlam ending was one of much confusion but that has become a pattern in WWE over the past two years following Brock Lesnar's shock defeat at last year's event.
Even though it was ruled that Undertaker forced Brock to submit to Hells Gate, the timekeeper suggested that he had actually seen Undertaker tap out much earlier in the match which left many fans wondering how legitimate Undertakers win was.
It seems Vince McMahon will do anything to ensure that Brock Lesnar stays undefeated because he knows that The Beast is a threat to anyone inside a ring or an octagon and right not he is the biggest draw in WWE. Whether that will change when Triple H takes over the company remains to be seen, but as for right now, it looks like Brock's streak is intact.
