Following what many considered to be a sub par showing at Summer Slam, RAW didn't create too much to raise the spirits of the WWE Universe.
That brought it down to Smackdown to try and give their fans something to shout about, and they did get off to a good start.
New prizes to be claimed
The show opened with several superstars in the ring along with Commissioner Shane McMahon and general manager Daniel Bryan.

The purpose of the segment was clear with two pedestals in the middle of the ring housing new title belts.
The powers that be on Smackdown would soon reveal that these belts were the new Smackdown Live Women's Championship and the new Tag Team belts for the show.
The belts were only part of the announcement though as it was also revealed how anyone on the roster can go about claiming them.
Revealing that the six women who competed at Summer Slam will now participate in a six pack challenge at Backlash to crown the inaugural Smackdown Women's Champion was only the first announcement.
Then turning their attention to the other superstars in the ring, they also revealed that tonight would mark the beginning of a tag team tournament.
The tournament will culminate at Backlash where new tag team champions will be crowned.
The belts are replicas of the ones used on RAW with a few minor changes in colour, although anyone could argue that the best part of the entire segment came in the form of Heath Slater.
Slater would find himself a partner later in the show in the form of the Man Beast Rhyno and it will certainly be interesting to see just how far the two will go in the tournament.
