Nikki Bella favourite to become first SmackDown Women's Champion

Published 5 Comments

Prior to the SummerSlam pay-per-view event last Sunday night, many wrestling fans felt the six-woman tag team match was only on the card because it had to be.

This opinion soon changed however, when the surprise addition to Alexa Bliss and Natalya's team was none other than the returning Nikki Bella.

Having been out of action for several months after needing surgery on her neck, one half of the Bella Twins sprung back into action, much to the approval of the WWE Universe.

Inaugural champion

It seems things may get even better for the 32-year-old following her comeback as she is expected to become the first SmackDown Live Women's Champion, as reported by Inquisitr.com.

The returning WWE superstar is expected to emerge victorious during the Six-Pack Challenge at the WWE Backlash pay-per-view event which takes place on September 11 at The Coliseum in Virginia.

Title match

The match will see Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Naomi, Natalya and of course Nikki Bella, battle it out to become the first SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

While nothing has yet been confirmed, it is likely the company will favour the option of crowning an established main roster star as the winner.

With this in mind, the likelihood of Alexa Bliss or Carmella picking up the win seems unlikely, but the chances of them being the champion further down the line are not impossible.

As the site has reported, it is believed that the WWE are looking to have Bella win in order to promote the importance of the belt, without having her hold onto it for long.

This in turn means WWE will have the ideal opportunity to push some of its recently drafted talent on SmackDown Live by giving several female superstars a title shot in the future.
