You couldn’t tell that Luka Modric will turn 31 next month.
The Real Madrid star’s baby face takes years off his age. The Modric of today looks no different to the one who signed for Tottenham eight years ago.
Though most people would love to have Modric’s ability to somehow show no signs of ageing, it can definitely have problems.

Like being refused entry into a bar, for example.
That’s exactly what happened to the midfielder in 2006 when, as a 21-year-old, he was turned away for looking like a devious kid attempting to get into a bar.
The incident, recounted by Modric’s former international teammate Dovani Roso, happened after Croatia beat Israel 4-3 in an away Euro 2008 qualifier.
Modric, Roso and some of their teammates wanted to celebrate the win by knocking back a few. But their celebrations were nearly halted by Modric’s youthful looks.
“After Croatia beat Israel in Tel Aviv during the Euro 2008 qualifiers, I took [Darijo] Srna, Modric and several other players to dinner," Roso told Sportske novosti, per Goal.
“After that we went for another drink at a bar, but at the entrance they didn't want to let Modric in, saying 'it is forbidden for kids under 16'!
“We had a good laugh and explained who that 'kid' was. Now they know Luka very well.”
The bouncer probably laughs when he hears the name ‘Modric’ now. But in his defence, Modric did look like a college student in 2006. The above picture proves that.
Now, the former Tottenham man wouldn’t even need to ask to be allowed into the biggest bars. As a Galactico, he has one of the most recognisable faces in Europe.
New contract imminent
Having won two Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, life could be about to get even better for Modric in the near future. According to Spanish outlet Marca, he’s next on Los Blancos’ list of contract priorities after the Spanish giants pinned Gareth Bale to a new five-year contract.
Nobody can argue that it isn’t deserved. Modric was integral for Madrid last season as the club clinched their 11th European Cup and the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale certainly benefit from playing with the Croatian playmaker.
He may not get all the headlines or be allowed into bars, but Luka Modric is a star.
