Liverpool fans react to James Milners' performance at left-back against Tottenham

Published 1 Comments

Liverpool fans have been criticising Alberto Moreno's defensive capabilities for some time, in fact, pretty much since his arrival from Sevilla in 2014. However, Jurgen Klopp had continuously showed faith in the Spaniard, whose pace has proved effective going forward for the Reds.

However, it seems Klopp, too, has finally given in on Moreno, whose questionable defending has finally caught up with him, with the German selecting James Milner to take up the left-back role, instead of his normal position in midfield.

The former Manchester City man has proven to be one of Liverpool's best bargain transfers of recent years, having arrived from the Etihad last summer, and it's not the first time the 30-year-old has assumed the responsibility of taking on the unnatural position of left-back.

But his performance at White Hart Lane could see Moreno warming the bench for some time, after his display was confident enough that you could, possibly, have been fooled into thinking that was his natural position.

The former England international put in a decent performance in both going forward and thwarting Tottenham at the back. In fact, Reds fans were so pleased with Milner's display, they believe he can do a better job than Moreno. Although, that won't answer Liverpool's problems in the long term.

However, despite Liverpool fans being largely impressed with Milner's contribution during Saturday's 1-1 draw, they are desperately hoping a new left-back will be brought in sooner rather than later. Although time is running out, however, with the transfer window closing on Wednesday.

It looks like Milner could be seeing plenty more of that left-back role.
