It's the news that no WWE fan would have wanted to hear.

Finn Balor has confirmed that he will miss the next six months due to the shoulder injury he sustained at SummerSlam earlier this month.

Balor was in a match with Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship, and despite winning the match and becoming the first ever Universal Champion, he had to relinquish the belt the very next night on Monday Night Raw.

The recently-promoted NXT star suffered a serious shoulder injury after taking a buckle bomb from Rollins onto the barricade, and although he managed to pop his shoulder back into place during the match, it's a lot worse than first feared for the Irishman.

Speaking in a video posted by WWE on their official Facebook page, Balor has confirmed that he's likely to miss six months of action, which means he could be sidelined until March.

It was feared that Balor would be out for the foreseeable future due to the extent of the injury, but with the man himself now confirming that it's likely to be half a year, it's safe to say the WWE Universe will not be happy.

In the video posted on Facebook, Balor revealed that the surgery was a lot more complicated that first anticipated. The video then showed Dr. Jeffrey Dugas talking the superstar through the injury and what actually happened to his shoulder during the match.

You can watch the video of Balor below.

You can tell by the tone of his voice that Balor is heartbroken to be out for so long, especially after finally receiving his call-up to the main roster.
