It’s been a typically frustrating summer transfer window for Arsenal fans.
With the number of targets missed out on by the Gunners reaching ludicrous levels, the club’s efforts to spend big have fallen flat. That is however until recent weeks with Arsene Wenger finally appearing to successfully seal a transfer.
While Shkodran Mustafi’s impending move wields the weightier fee, Arsenal’s move for Lucas Perez is tipped as the answer to their attacking issues. Furthermore, recent photographs seem to suggest that confirmation could be within hours.

Olivier Giroud’s goal scoring record at the Emirates is far from appalling, but it would be fair to say that Arsenal supporters aren’t completely satisfied with the Frenchman.
Albeit amassing 24 goals in 2015-16, the 29-year-old came unstuck for large portions of the season. In fact, between January and May, Giroud went a staggering 15 league games without a goal.

Consequently, a move for a striker has been high on Arsenal’s agenda this summer. Such a desire has eventually culminated in a raid for Deportivo La Coruna’s Lucas Perez.
It appears after deals for Andre Lacazette and Jamie Vardy fell through, Wenger has settled for the Spaniard as his marquee attacking signing. In fact, it just took the club a bid of £19 million to active the 27-year-old’s release clause.
Despite the move for Perez, and that for Mustafi too, having been reported on for nearly a week, Arsenal fans have been left waiting for the confirmation.
However, supporters have been given the biggest indicator yet that the deal will be wrapped up imminently via photographs of Perez in London. The Spanish striker can be seen in Heathrow below:
Having been snapped at the UK’s largest airport, it can be confidently assumed that Perez will become an Arsenal player. In fact, according to The Mirror, he will be unveiled at the Emirates on Tuesday.
On the back of a superb season with Deportivo, the north London side will be securing a forward in a rich vein of form. With 17 strikes for a mid-table La Liga outfit in 2015-16, it bodes well for Wenger and co.
Above all though, it helps to quash the bombardment of criticism rooting from the lack of spending this summer. Not only is Perez a promising capture, but means through which Arsenal can keep the fans on board.
How successful the 27-year-old will prove in the rough and tumble of the Premier League is unknown. For Wenger’s sake though, he cannot afford to flop.
