AJ Styles has quickly ascended to become one of the most intriguing stars in the WWE after debuting at the Royal Rumble last January.
At 39-years-old, his chance on the big stage has been a long time coming.
He was the 'homegrown' star of TNA before conquering Japan with his Bullet Club buddies, but very few people truly believed that the WWE would ever first of all sign him, and second of all, push him.

But that's exactly what has happened. The stigma attached to TNA talents has all but disappeared and Styles is a legitimate superstar.
Fresh off a second win over John Cena, Styles did an interview with 105.3 THE FAN Dallas/Ft. Worth and speculated about next year's WrestleMania.
When asked about the potential matchup between The Rock and Vin Deisel, The Phenomenal One insisted he wouldn't be surprised if the WWE made it happen.
“That sounds like the craziest matchup ever…so we’ll probably do it!”
But what about his own WrestleMania aspirations? What celebrity would Styles like to get in the ring with?
“Since we’re talking about actors, can we bring in Mark Wahlberg? I kinda want to matchup with this guy and see where I’m at…Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch was a pretty big deal back in the day, I was a fan.”
AJ Styles against the Boston tough Mark Wahlberg would certainly turn a few heads, but the number one contender to the WWE title looks set for bigger things than promotional feuds.
He looks primed to win Smackdown Live's top title in the coming months and he may even be involved with the strap come WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next April.
