Kevin Durant has made the headlines this summer for joining the Golden State Warriors, as well as leading Team USA to a gold medal in the basketball at the Rio Olympics.

But that's not all KD has been up to. The 2014 MVP got a tattoo of rap legend Tupac Shakur prior to his efforts in Brazil and since he has returned, he has decided to get another music icon inked on his body.

Steve Wiebe is a famous tattoo artist in North America and plenty of NBA stars, including Durant's fellow Olympian DeAndre Jordan, have been known to get their tats done with him.

This time though, Durantula decided to get a portrait of Rick James tattooed on his thigh.

James as a music megastar in the 1980s with hits like 'Super Freak' and 'Mary Jane' and for a younger generation, he starred in a hilarious skit of his own life on the Dave Chappelle show back in 2004, mere months before his death.

A heart attack would Slick Rick from the music world at the age of 56, and considering Durant is 28-years-old, chances are he heard a lot of James growing up.

KD may be adorning himself in famous faces from the past, but his task next season is to take himself to a new level and win his first ever NBA title.

The whole purpose of his move to the Golden State Warriors from the OKC Thunder is to win championships and anything short of that will be considered a failure.

The Warriors and indeed KD will be a fascinating watch next term.
