Jon Jones was once the darling of UFC. He was widely regarded as the best fighter in the company’s history and maybe still is, but his controversies are now endless and have blighted his legacy.
Jones still remains young (29) and able to regain his status but after hit-and-run charges in 2015, he lost his UFC title and his career began a nosedive from which it hasn’t yet recovered.
The American was eventually reinstated by UFC at the back end of last year but 2016 has brought with it more controversy, with Jones testing positive for banned substances.

Jones was pulled from UFC’s rankings with his career going down the toilet and now it seems he is fair game for other fighters to take shots at him.
The latest UFC star to take aim has been Alexander Gustafsson, who believes Jones has well and truly thrown his career out the window.
It’s not a surprise to see Gustafsson make these remarks to be fair, with the rivalry between the two something that has been palpable over the years.
Gustafsson was a fighter who almost beat Jones in the Octagon ring and maybe there’s still a bit of bitterness in his latest comments.
“As a role model, people look up to him. It’s just sad to see it,” said Gustafsson in an interview with Sporting News earlier this week. “He’s one of a kind. He’s been made something for him that nobody else has ever done in this sport and then he just throws it out the window. I just think it’s sad.”
There is a hint of jealous here from the Swedish star but his comments, I think you’d agree, are right on the money.
