Paige has reportedly been threatened to break-up with Alberto Del Rio.

Paige rumoured to be leaving the WWE

Published 25 Comments

Last week there was an interesting rumour doing the rounds online that Paige had been threatened by a WWE official, claiming that if she didn’t break up with real-life boyfriend Alberto Del Rio, she would be fired.

The official was revealed as Mark Carano from talent relations, who is often seen on Total Divas.

However, Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer has provided new details which back up those claims, and it could also mean we may not see her in the WWE for much longer.

Meltzer noted on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio that he doesn’t think the original rumour came from thin air, he believes that the conversation between Carano and Paige did take place, although he doesn’t think he would have worded it like that.

He highlighted that he would have hinted to Paige that it’s what the company would like her to do, but wouldn’t have said it as it had been reported.

This is because it wouldn’t have been legally okay to do and that Carano, or his superiors, may have been smarter than that and avoided a heated conversation like that taking place which could have landed them in more trouble.

We already know by now that Del Rio and Paige were separated in the draft on purpose, as it was a message sent to them both and now that this ‘threatening’ story has come out, Meltzer believes she is likely to be done with the organisation.

He said: “If she is done, they’re probably trying to manoeuvre to where she can be released, and she can work elsewhere because she is under contract to WWE for a long time.”

With Del Rio almost certain to be leaving the WWE, a return to Lucha Underground seems the likely destination, and if Paige is still with him, then it won’t be a surprise to see her end up there either.

While she can be a huge asset to any company, including Lucha Underground, the WWE could be making a mistake in letting go of a young, bright star they have for the future,
