It’s under three days now until the first Manchester derby of the season.
The plot lines are endless. Manchester United versus Manchester City. Jose Mourinho versus Pep Guardiola. A combined spend of £323.6 million in the transfer window. Both have 100 per cent records through three league games.
Then there are the questions that we will only find out on Saturday. Will England U21 hero Marcus Rashford start? How will City replace Sergio Aguero?
Of course, the title won’t be decided on Saturday. It’s not as if United and City are the only clubs in the race to lift the trophy, either.
Still, it’s brilliant that the Premier League have arranged this fixture so early on in the calendar. It gives us a brief glimpse of which club is poised to compete for the title and which is still a work in progress.
One man who is definitely ready for the challenge is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. There were fears when United signed the Swede that he wouldn’t be able to cut it in England’s top tier after four years playing in France.
At 34-years-old, it was a valid concern. Several overseas stars have flopped in the Premier League - just ask Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria, who both have terrible memories of their time at Old Trafford.
Yet Ibrahimovic has taken to England like a duck to water. Four goals in his first four games, including the winner against Leicester City in the Community Shield, has put the striker on the way to becoming a fan favourite.
Gift to Bravo
Ibrahimovic has gotten into the spirit of the derby by sending a gift to new City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who arrived at the Etihad from Barcelona.
In a rather ingenious way of promoting his A-Z sportswear brand, the former Paris Saint-Germain packages some clothes to be delivered to Bravo at the Etihad.
That’s it. He doesn’t say a word, and yet we love it. Check out the video below.
Ibra added the caption: “Welcome to Manchester! Here’s some training gear, you’re gonna need it. See you Saturday. #MUFC #ManchesterDerby”.
Bravo vs Caballero
The outspoken forward will see Bravo on Saturday but it might not be between the sticks.
According to the Mirror, Guardiola is still deciding whether to hand the 33-year-old his debut at United’s stadium.
It’s either Bravo or Willy Caballero. We know who we’d choose.
