Social media plays a key role in the wrestling industry today, with stars often remaining in character when interacting with other wrestlers or the fans, unless you’re Dean Ambrose then you have a verified account you’ve never used.

This provides fans with a platform to either positively communicate with their favourite superstars, but more often than not, it’s their stage to spew hate to grab their attention in an effort to get noticed; we know them as modern day keyboard warriors.

NON-TITLE MATCH

If you’re an active user on Twitter, and you follow Kevin Owens, which you should, you’ll know that he’s incredible at working the fans and whoever else he communicates with.

This week was no different after it was revealed that next week on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns battles Owens in a non-title match .

A victory means Reigns is added to the Clash of Champions match alongside Owens and Rollins, turning it into a triple threat match for the Universal Championship.

Being the incredible heel that he is, Owens didn’t waste any opportunity in playing down Reigns’ chances on Twitter, either by making fun of his punctuation or by responding to his die-hard fans.

DESTROYED ON TWITTER

It all kicked off with Reigns tweeting about the hectic tour the Raw stars are going on, making stops in London, Manila and Shanghai by next Monday.

Reigns sent out: “Around the world in 5 days!. Then I’m going to kick @FightOwensFight ass! Ahhhh yessir!!”

Owens responded like only he can, replying with: “Watch your language. And your punctuation…Why the period after the exclamation point? Get a grip, Roman.”

Not bad for someone whose first language isn’t even English, and his response prompted Reigns’ fans to come out in full force, but Owens seemed ready for them as he highlighted what his fan base are like.

A user by the name of @juangarana tried his best to defend Reigns but was also quickly shot down by the Universal Champion.

Perhaps Reigns needs to understand that although he stands a chance in the ring, there’s no way Owens takes a loss lying down on Twitter, all in good fun of course.
