The first Old Firm of the season was always going to be an intensely crazy affair.

Celtic and Rangers have been kept apart long enough, so the odds of a red card in one of the game's most heated derbies had to be pretty short.

And Arsenal fans won't be at all surprised to learn that it fell to their former defender Philippe Senderos, now playing for Rangers, to get himself sent off.

It was Senderos who topped them all, though, with an absolutely ridiculous handball while already on a yellow card.

Bizarrely, the 31-year-old didn't even attempt to head the ball, jumping in the air to punch it instead.

Senderos looked suitably devastated by his moment of madness, but most of the damage was already done with Rangers already 3-1 down.

Celtic made their one-man advantage count with a further two goals, but if he was carrying on like that, Senderos probably wouldn't have made much difference anyway.
