As soon as the new football season started, one of the things almost everyone wanted to do was compare the displays of Paul Pogba and Gonzalo Higuain and see who out-performed the other on a weekly basis.
Juventus received a world-record £89 million transfer fee from Manchester United for the 23-year-old Frenchman, and they used £75.3 million of that to bring in 28-year-old Higuain from rivals Napoli.
It can be argued that Juve didn't even need the Argentinian striker, having won Serie A in each of the last five seasons. In contrast, United have been crying out for a midfielder with power, creativity and personality - and Pogba certainly fits the bill.

They both starred in Italy last year, with the former scoring 36 goals from 35 league games in an outstanding campaign with Napoli, while Pogba netted eight times in addition to providing 12 assists.
Despite the fact that they play in different positions, as a result of their massive transfers over the summer, comparisons between the two this season are inevitable.

Higuain and Pogba have only played a handful of games for their new clubs but, judging by the tweets below, it's safe to say that Juve fans now feel they got the better end of the bargain:
Higuain v Pogba
Despite people calling him "fat" during pre-season, Higuain has made a stunning start to life in Turin and he marked his debut by scoring the winner against Fiorentina just nine minutes after coming on as a substitute.
After playing 35 minutes of Juventus' 1-0 win at Lazio, Higuain started for the Old Lady on Saturday as they hosted Sassuolo and the ex-Real Madrid man produced two exceptional strikes within the opening ten minutes in a 3-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Pogba has failed to back up his impressive debut performance against Southampton and was largely anonymous in United's 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester City this weekend.
Even though Pogba is five years younger than Higuain and we're only a few weeks into the season, it looks as though Juventus supporters are already happy with their club's big-money transfer dealings.
