This is hands down the coolest thing we have seen during this offseason.
San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker teamed up with one of his sponsors, Tissot, to create a basketball court atop the Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland.
Surrounded by snow white mountains, the game took place in just-above-freezing conditions and included players from the Swiss League and French club ASVEL Villeurbanne.
A number of bystanders took in the strange sight and enjoyed a free game of basketball, but it was the surrounding area that truly made this event special. As far as basketball games go, we can't think of a more mesmerising place to enjoy some hoops.
However, it was tough to see anything without the use of sunglasses. Every player and the majority of spectators donned shades throughout.
“I’m always up for new challenges, so when Tissot, my long-term partner, suggested I play a game at the top of Europe, I thought it was a great opportunity to do something exceptional,” said Parker. “We don’t often get to play often in such extreme conditions.”
Parker will return to the United States soon as the Spurs prepare to challenge the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference.
