After spending almost £150 million in the summer transfer window, you’d think Jose Mourinho would be happy with his squad.

Eric Bailly (£30 million), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£26 million), Paul Pogba (£89 million) have all been signed with the Portuguese boss - while he has also captured the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer.

But it’s clear that Mourinho doesn’t want to stop there as he attempts to return United to the summit of English football.

There have been several reports suggesting that he is keen to break the bank to sign Antoine Griezmann next summer, while The Sun claimed today that they are eyeing a move for Gareth Bale.

While these reports are interesting, we must add they are unsubstantiated and we cannot confirm nor deny these rumours.

Ribeiro's comments

However, football agent Wagner Ribeiro has revealed the one player that Mourinho has attempted to sign in the past - and is still ‘passionate’ about now whilst in charge of the Red Devils.

Ribeiro has numerous world-class clients in football but claims that the Special One could be set for a bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Moura after his previous interest.

“Who called Lucas Moura (at Real Madrid), who wanted Lucas Moura wasn’t Florentino (Perez), it was Mourinho,” he said, per The Sun.

“Mourinho was, is, passionate for Lucas Moura. So much so that now at Manchester he wants Lucas as well.”

Moura would certainly be a brilliant signing if Mourinho can convince him to join the club in the near future. The Brazilian is still only 24-years-old but has played consistently for PSG in the previous three campaigns.

Genuine?

While there’s no doubting the quotes from Ribeiro, we’ve learnt that agents are often extremely sly in their public comments. It definitely wouldn’t be beyond an agent to claim another club is interested in their client to ensure he gets a new lucrative contract at his current club.

Moura over Mkhitaryan?

But if Mourinho is keen on Moura, he will surely be wishing he had signed him rather than Mkhitaryan. While the Armenian is no doubt a fantastic footballer, he doesn’t appear to want to play on the right-wing, after a report in The Sun claimed he was unhappy to perform there.

Manchester United v Manchester City - Premier League

Mkhitaryan was hauled off at half-time of the Manchester derby last weekend - his first start for the club - with Mourinho declaring his disappointment at his performance.

We’ll just have to wait until January - or maybe next summer - to see if Mourinho’s interest in Moura is real but it certainly seems pretty legitimate.
