It didn’t take long for Joey Barton to upset a few people in Scotland, did it?
Reports emerged last night of Barton being involved in a training ground bust-up with Scotland’s STV claiming that he’s been told not to report back to the club until next week.
It’s believed that the controversial midfielder got into a heated argument with teammate Andy Halliday earlier this week with manager Mark Warburton banishing Barton as a result.
Immediately after the reports emerged, Barton responded by confirming them, explaining what had happened. He wrote: "There were only words involved in the disagreement, nothing else. Nevertheless, some of the words used did overstep the mark.
"I accept some of the things I said were inappropriate and for that I apologise unreservedly."
But what were those words?
Well, the Mirror have now revealed exactly what was said.
They report that Barton started arguing with a few of his teammates following Celtic’s heavy 5-1 defeat against Rangers in the Old Firm derby last weekend.
One source said: “Barton told some home truths and not all of the boys reacted well. One of them pointed out to Joey that they hardly lost a game last season and had been doing fine without him.
“Barton responded by saying they were 'playing against s*** teams in a s*** league'. But he lost the plot when one of the boys said they managed to beat Celtic last season without him too - and that he hardly got a kick against them at the weekend.
“It was all getting very heated but when Warburton tried to calm it down Barton went head-to-head with him too.
"He left the manager with very little choice and it’s difficult to see how he can come back from this now.
“Barton has not been seen at the training ground since and has been told to stay well clear until Monday morning when he’ll discover his fate.”
Of course, Barton’s career has been littered with misdemeanours which include stubbing a cigar out on a teammate’s eye, assaulting a teammate in training and going to jail for common assault and affray.
When will Barton grow up?
