Kevin Owens is on top of the world right now after becoming the WWE Universal champion.
Not many people thought a wrestler of his build would ever make it to the WWE, much less become the champion of its flagship show, Monday Night Raw.
The same could be said for AJ Styles, current WWE champion on SmackDown Live.

As another well travelled independent wrestler, The Phenomenal One was 39-years-old before he arrived in the WWE and won their biggest belt.
One reason why no one believed Styles would make his way to the big time was his ties with TNA.
If Cena was and is the face of the WWE, Styles was certainly the poster boy for TNA. For a long time there was a stigma attached to talent in that company, but in the past few years talents like Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode and Eric Young have all made the jump to NXT.
Owens may be sitting on the mountain top on Monday Night Raw, but the Canadian grappler wants to see another certain TNA talent make their way to the bright lights of the WWE.
“Eddie Edwards is amazing,” Owens told Sports Illustrated. “I think he should be here, and I truly hope one day he gets here. I know he had a tryout here once, and I’m not sure why it didn’t work out, but I feel like today would be very a different story. Hopefully he makes his way here.”
Edwards is 32-years-old and is a former five-time TNA tag team champion as part of The American Wolves alongside Davey Richards, as well as a former Ring of Honor world champion.
The tag-team actually had a match in the WWE developmental system with the then-NXT tag team champions, The Ascension, back in 2013 under the name of 'The American Pitbulls' in a losing effort.
It's unknown why things didn't work out for them the first time around, but hopefully the recent success for wrestlers with a similar background in the WWE will provide them with another opportunity.
