It's a common thought within the WWE Universe that Raw won the Draft overall because of the big names they picked. The likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Bayley were all selected for the red brand.
This left SmackDown LIVE lacking a lot of top names, and that is why officials wanted old talent to return, in order to help out the blue brand.
Benjamin was one old face all set to return and was being advertised during SmackDown LIVE, but his anticipated return was sadly stalled.
The 41-year-old suffered a torn rotator cuff and underwent surgery earlier this month. He's likely to return in six months time, and it's believed WWE are still keen on having him on the blue brand once he's fully fit.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were talks this week at the television events about Benjamin's future, and it's believed both Triple H and Vince McMahon are keen on having him back.
The two senior officials are believed to be big fans of Benjamin's ability, and they both believe the roster needs strengthening.
