Jamie Carragher says Jurgen Klopp has ‘no time’ for one Liverpool player

Published 3 Comments

Following Liverpool’s impressive 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday night, some fans now genuinely believe their team could mount a serious Premier League title challenge.

Goals from Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson earned all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s men who will surely benefit, as the season progresses, from their lack of European football.

But despite all the positivity, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Klopp will be keen to sign at least one player for his starting line-up in January.

Carragher believes it could be the end of the road for Alberto Moreno, who has played just 14 minutes of football since his disastrous performance in the 4-3 win over Arsenal on August 14.

In fact, the Sky Sports pundit is now convinced that Klopp has “no time” for the error-prone Spanish full-back.

Carragher: Klopp has no time for Moreno

“He obviously rates him [James Milner] higher than Moreno,” Carragher told talkSPORT following Liverpool’s win in west London.

“If you’re a left-back and the manager is playing a right midfielder ahead of you it probably tells you time is up at the club, so I would imagine in January or the end of the season a left-back will come in.

“Milner would become back up and it wouldn’t be too bad then. I must say he’s done very well but at this stage of his career it is not easy, but I don’t think it could last for a full season and I am sure Klopp and his team are scouting for a left-back. Because you can see he has no time for Moreno.“

Carragher has never been a Moreno fan

This isn’t the first time that Carragher has called for Liverpool to replace Moreno who, at times, doesn’t appear to possess a defensive bone in his body.

Following the Reds’ defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the League Cup final last season, Carragher was particularly scathing of the Spaniard.

“The left-back has to come out of the team,” he said at the time. “This is not a one-off today in terms of the goal.”

Carragher was proved right - and Klopp, it seems, now finally concurs with that opinion.
