It may seem incomprehensible, but Francesco Totti will be hanging up his boots at the end of the season. The Italian legend has had a sparkling 24-year career at the highest level of the game and is adored by supporters the world over.
After all, this is the man who has shown incomparable loyalty to his childhood club in donning the AS Roma jersey since 1992. Even at 39-years-old, he remains an integral role in the Giallorossi set-up.
However, while Totti may have a lot of time for Roma and their supporters, he has little such patience with journalists. If anything though, his hilarious quip only serves to augment his already legendary status.

Loyal players at the top level are becoming few and far between. Consequently, Totti is becoming something of a rare breed despite playing in a league renowned for player allegiance.
Javier Zanetti represented Inter Milan for 19 years, Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi played for AC Milan for 24 and 20 years respectively and Gianluigi Buffon has resided with Juventus for one and a half decades.
Totti though, many would argue, is one of the most popular in this category. His mercurial flair, unique relationship with the fans and uncanny ability to bail out his side is beyond admirable.
After all, just this month he was substituted on against Sampdoria when Roma were 2-1 down. An assist and a goal later though and the 39-year-old had wrapped up an improbable comeback.
Consequently, it will be a sad sight at the end of the season when Totti eventually bows out. He’ll be sorely missed in the capital.
With a World Cup in his trophy cabinet as well, as far as the ‘beautiful game’ goes, Totti is entitled to a retirement more graceful than most.
Consequently, when a journalist approached him this week and asked for a minute of his time, Totti produced a brilliant response. The Italian replied: “After 25 years, what the f**k do I have to tell you guys?”
The video of the exchange, albeit in Italian, can be seen below:
If any footballer can be forgiven for such a comment, it’s Totti and it proved admittedly hilarious. After all, this is man who has spent over two decades doing his talking on the pitch and not off it.
The Roma star is a true footballing legend and after 25 years, on his own admission, has said all that he needs to.
