It's fair to say that Manchester United and Liverpool have been the main two talking points of the weekend.

Jurgen Klopp's Merseyside outfit secured a wonderful victory over Chelsea on Friday night, while Jose Mourinho's Red Devils slumped to their third consecutive defeat at the hands of Watford on Sunday.

Liverpool well and truly stamped their mark on the Premier League title race, but United look way off the pace in the pursuit of glory.

Despite their recent poor form, United fans certainly wouldn't have expected to succumb to yet another defeat at Vicarage Road. But that's exactly what transpired and now one United fan account has been made to look quite foolish.

That's because, as you can see by the tweet below, The United Stand Twitter account, trolled Liverpool following their impressive victory at Stamford Bridge.

The tweet read: "Big thanks to Liverpool for beating one of our title rivals. Another three points towards your battle for 6th."

Well, that tweet has now returned to haunt the United account. Indeed, Liverpool's official Twitter account opted to respond to it by stating 'delete'.

In all honesty, it would be foolish to completely disregard United and Liverpool at this stage of the season.

Mourinho's side have, of course, had a torrid week or so, but there's no reason why they won't be able to get back to their best over the coming weeks and months. Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney and co. have all come in for criticism recently, but they could yet redeem themselves in the immediate future.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are looking very good right now, but it's all about consistency for Klopp's side. They have certainly got a squad capable of competing for England's most prestigious prize, but must now prove their credentials week in, week out.

Will Liverpool finish above United this season? Have your say below!
