Just when you thought the bad fortune surrounding Manchester United couldn't get any worse today, step forward Adnan Januzaj.
The Belgian midfielder isn't currently part of Jose Mourinho's Old Trafford squad after being loaned out to Sunderland at the start of the season, but that didn't stop him continuing the Red Devils' bad day.
That's after he was given his marching orders in Sunday's late kick-off between Sunderland and Tottenham for two foolish incidents inside the final 10 minutes. As you might expect, social media wasn't kind.
First, the misdemeanours that earned the midfielder the early bath.
The first card was shown after Januzaj vented his frustration to match official Mike Dean. A silly decision that should have meant the midfielder was on his best behaviour for the rest of the game.
However, things got even worse for the ex-United man as he lazily went in on his Spurs opponent with his studs showing in the 90th minute.
Perhaps it was simply United fans letting their frustration out as they continue to come to terms with a 3-1 loss at Watford earlier today, but Januzaj didn't get an easy ride as fans kept an eye on their on-loan midfielder...
After United's current midfield put in another lacklustre display in losing to Watford, Januzaj could have boosted his reputation with a positive display this evening. Or, at worst, keep a low profile.
Unfortunately for him, after seeing red against Spurs, all he has really done is put his future back at United in even more doubt.
Loaned out for the second consecutive season d now facing up to a suspension, it isn't looking good for the midfielder and it doesn't exactly sound like he will be welcomed back with open arms in Manchester when he does return.
