Following Conor McGregor’s 13-second demolition of Jose Aldo back at UFC 194 to capture the Featherweight Championship, plenty of super fights suddenly became available for the Notorious one.
While he fell at the first hurdle when submitting to Nate Diaz – although he picked up the win in their rematch – huge names were still thrown around because of the interest he gauges from both MMA and non-MMA fans.

Both parties teased the fans for months, with images and messages being sent out to goad the other. However, Mayweather has revealed that there won’t be a fight with McGregor, as they weren’t able to agree on terms.
Speaking to Fight Hype, he said: “I tried to make the fight happen between me and Conor McGregor.
“We weren’t able to make it happen, so we must move on.”
Mayweather hasn’t been the only boxing star to call out McGregor, attempting to cash-in on his surging popularity.
Amir Khan has been one of many to call out the Irishman, something Mayweather has noticed as a growing trend started by himself.
He added: “It’s so crazy that I’m talking about fighting Conor McGregor – there are so many fighters talking about fighting him, but I was the first.
“I feel honoured to be the biggest name in MMA and boxing when I don’t even compete anymore.”
McGregor may have to wait another day for the ludicrous payday he desires, while Mayweather seems to be content with life as a ridiculously wealthy promoter.
