Watch: Liverpool flop Lazar Markovic guilty of shocking dive for Sporting

Yesterday we brought you news about the incredible performance put in by Liverpool flop Brad Jones for Feyenoord over the weekend.

However, the past few days haven't brought out the best in all of those players who failed to perform on Merseyside.

That's after footage has emerged showing Lazar Markovic - the £20 million Liverpool winger currently on loan from Sporting Lisbon - embarrassing himself with a pretty shameful dive in Portugal this weekend.

The midfielder, who was loaned out for the second straight season after failing to convince Jurgen Klopp he was worthy of a place in his squad this year, was in action for Sporting on Sunday night against Rio Ave.

And, with his team 3-1 down and the game in stoppage time at the end of the second half, Markovic attempted to regain some respectability for the Portuguese champions with a surging run into the box.

Unfortunately, all the 22-year-old ended up doing was help lower his stock further with a pretty poor attempt to win a penalty.

Fortunately for Rio Ave, the dramatic fall in the penalty area wasn't convincing anyone and the referee duly handed the Liverpool flop a yellow card to cap a frustrating night.

If the footage makes its way back to Anfield, it is hardly going to improve his reputation amongst Klopp and his staff either.

The Serbian arrived in the Premier League as a big money signing from Benfica in 2014. However, he has just three goals in 34 games for Liverpool since then and has fallen way down the pecking order.

Returning this summer from a less than impressive campaign on loan at Fenerbahce, Markovic will have been hoping to secure himself a place in Klopp's plans for the 2016-17 campaign.

Instead, with the likes of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum providing new attacking options on Merseyside, the expensive flop has had to try to rebuild his career in Portugal.

Judging by his actions on Sunday night, he isn't going about that the right way just yet.
