Tonight's episode of Smackdown was charged with the task of outdoing Monday's episode of RAW which culminated in a cage match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens.
They found a good way to do that however by staging an Intercontinental Championship match between the Miz and Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler has become very passionate over the last few weeks as he sets out on a mission to prove that he can still be successful within the WWE.

His latest attempt came tonight as he was granted another chance to claim the Intercontinental Championship off of the Miz.
Ziggler lost to the Miz at Backlash and a loss once again tonight could see him drop out of the title race entirely.
It didn't go well for the Show off though who despite a backstage interview before the match showing that he was ready, was not able to get the win.
Ziggler had his best hope come half way through the match when the referee caught Miz's wife Maryse attempting to get involved and banished her from ringside.
With Maryse gone, Miz was certainly weakened and Ziggler began to take over the match - even prompting Miz to take his title belt and try to leave.
Prior to her departure however, Maryse had dropped a spray canister in the ring, Miz would use it to his advantage later on while the referee's back was turned.
After spraying it's contents into the eyes of Ziggler, Miz delivered the skull crushing finale to claim the win and end Ziggler's hopes once again.
With just under three weeks until Smackdown's second exclusive PPV No Mercy, it will be interesting to see what fate has in store for the Intercontinental Championship.
