When Loris Karius signed for Liverpool this summer, he probably wouldn't have guessed he'd be scrapping to get Simon Mignolet out of the team.
The German was brought in precisely because Mignolet was such a liability last season, but a broken hand in pre-season handed back the regular number one his place between the sticks.
Jurgen Klopp has been undecided on who his first choice is, insisting it's all down to their performances. Nonetheless, for this weekend's game against Hull City, he has reportedly plumped for Karius.

That's a move that should prove pretty popular among the Reds' fans, given Mignolet's reputation for a howler or two.
Yet, that's not to say the decision's gone down without raising a few eyebrows.
Jamie Carragher is never shy to have his say on all things Liverpool, and he quickly reacted to the news that Karius would be playing:
To be fair, Karius has played just one competitive game for Liverpool, featuring in the EFL Cup win over Derby County. That puts him under a lot of pressure against Hull.
One fan was quick to point out a slight hole in Carragher's argument, but the former Liverpool defender batted that away too.
Classic Carra. You almost get the feeling he wouldn't mind a Karius slip-up this weekend just to prove his point, but maybe that's being a little harsh.
Klopp could indeed have waited until after the international break to make such a big change, so he must be praying it doesn't backfire. It's not as if Karius has an entirely faultless record in his very brief time at Anfield. Remember when he did this?
Liverpool are actually in quite a fortunate position to be able to choose between the two stoppers, and it's a headache a lot of managers would welcome.
