It’s all going wrong for Bastian Schweinsteiger at the moment. In the space of a few months his Manchester United dream has descended into an unprecedented nightmare.
Despite having the World Cup and a Champions League trophy under his belt, Jose Mourinho has seemingly exiled him from the side. What makes things worse is the fact he wasn’t able to secure a move away from Old Trafford this summer either. He’s simply in limbo.
Furthermore, the Schweinsteiger snubbing has continued via the club’s annual photo shoot. It has appeared that the German isn’t even worth a new season snap in what proves the latest high-profile blow.

Having moved from his beloved Bayern Munich last season, Schweinsteiger must have envisaged becoming an integral part of another of world football’s biggest clubs.
Even under Louis van Gaal, this wasn’t strictly the case. While injuries do obscure the statistics, 18 league appearances and just one goal proves a largely non-descript return.
One man that certainly wasn’t impressed proved Jose Mourinho. Despite Schweinsteiger galvanizing Germany to the World Cup just two years previously, the Special One has stamped his authority and to a drastic level.
The German is yet to appear on the bench this season and hasn’t been handed a single second of first-team football. Moreover, albeit his legendary status, he’s been forced to train with the youth outfits.
Amid this unparalleled lack of faith though, the 32-year-old has stayed true to the fans and his teammates. Schweinsteiger can often be seen posting best wishes on social media ahead of games.
So, you’d think that despite the footballing disagreements, that Schweinsteiger would at least warrant a photo. Just a couple of seconds of a photographer’s time to acknowledge the fact he is still a Manchester United player.
But no. It appears the German doesn’t even deserve a photo in what proves the latest and perhaps most hurtful snub.
In fact the only other absentee from the annual piece of administration proved third choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. A decent ‘keeper yes, but not a squad member of equal value of Schweinsteiger.
Consequently, it appears the midfielder’s chances of making a United return remain fantastical. As to why Marouane Fellaini is being preferred over him, many Red Devils fans are none the wiser.
Nevertheless, it’s apparent that whatever Mourinho says, goes. It proves a sorry climax to a transfer that promised so much for a player that has such undeniable talent and prestige.
