Manchester United's performance against Leicester was arguably their finest under new manager Jose Mourinho, with the Red Devils defeating last season's Premier League champions 4-1.

World-record signing Paul Pogba was amongst the scorers for United and earned the man-of-the-match award for an excellent display in the heart of the midfield.

Mourinho dropped captain Wayne Rooney for the game, much to the delight of many fans, and his decision was rewarded with a comprehensive first half showing that the Foxes had no chance of coming back from.

It's not the first time that the Portuguese has made a big decision regarding one of his first team stars.

Shortly after his appointment, he immediately ousted Bastian Schweinsteiger, telling him he was not part of his plans and to find a new club.

The decision was met with mixed feelings from United supporters. Although the German had not contributed too much to the club since his arrival from Bayern Munich, his experience and qualities cannot be denied.

Since then, he has not said a bad word about the club or the manager and is continuing to be hopeful he can force his way back into first team plans.

Like many footballers in this day and age, Schweinsteiger is prominent on Twitter and has regularly tweeted the club praising them for victories and wishing them luck in games.

Following the win against Leicester, the 32-year-old took to social media once more. 

He tweeted the following:

A pretty innocuous tweet from the professional, but it's the reaction from the United fans that makes it all the more sad that his time at the club has been tainted.

It seems that despite his short time in Manchester, he is a huge fan favourite with the Old Trafford faithful. 

His love for the club is evident, but, judging by Mourinho's previous stubbornness, it doesn't look likely he will feature for United any time soon.
