Despite a stagnant start, Arsenal finally seem to be settling into the new season. This weekend’s 3-0 thrashing of Chelsea marked the club’s first four game winning streak in the league since October 2015.
Such performances have seen the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool largely forgotten and hopes of a title charge reignited.
However, out of all the glittering performances from Arsenal players in recent weeks, Jamie Carragher has been impressed with one star in particular. In fact, he even believes the man in question is the future of the club.

Start to the season
Given Arsenal’s first game of 2015-16, many supporters thought they were set for a painful season and a fight to make the top four. After all, the Gunners did find themselves 4-1 down at home to Liverpool before two consolation strikes served to limit the damage.
Moreover, a stale 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium didn’t help to quell concerns.
However, Arsenal have ascended the table with a superb string of results that sees them below just Tottenham and the seemingly invincible Manchester City.
The romping of Watford, dramatic victory over Southampton, win over Hull City and dismantlement of Chelsea have seen the Gunners reach top gear. In accordance with this glittering form, there have been a number of stand out performers.
One man who has impressed has proven Granit Xhaka. Moreover, his satisfying showings haven’t been missed by Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool legend Carragher.
Just this week Xhaka has scored two long-range thunderbolts and become a stalwart in the Arsenal side. He may have missed out on a start against Chelsea, but not through any fault of his own.
Carragher has been keen to praise the Swiss international also and, according to the Independent stated: “Xhaka scored another thumping goal in Arsenal’s League Cup win at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday but Wenger has been intent on easing him into his team.
“Xhaka is surely the future and if he has the talent that Wenger says he has, you would expect him to be at home in this type of battle.”
High praise, it’s fair to say. Just over one month into his Arsenal career and Xhaka is being tipped as the future for the three-time Premier League champions.
Whether the 23-year-old will live up to these expectations is unknown, but if Xhaka is to continue this form, he’ll need to show that he’s more than just a scorer of spectacular goals.
