Ryan Fitzpatrick implodes in one of the NFL's worst ever quarterback displays

Published 1 Comments

New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has the nickname 'FitzMagic.'

Well, today he did just about enough to lose that nickname and gain a new one....FitzTragic. He was seriously that bad.

The Jets lost 24-3 to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium today but that doesn't highlight just how bad the former Harvard man was. Fitzpatrick managed to put in one of the worst quarterbacking displays the NFL has seen for quite some time.

Fitzpatrick tied a franchise record in the loss to the Chiefs, but it isn't a record that he will be happy to share. In throwing six interceptions - yes, six - Fitz set both personal and franchise marks for INTs.

The 33-year-old hasn't even been that bad to start off the 2016 season. In fact, the veteran quarterback came into Kansas City off the back of a very good performance against the Buffalo Bills where he threw for over 300 yards and three TDs.

He wasn't at anything close to that level tonight, finishing with a completion percentage below 50% as he connected on just 20 of his 44 passing attempts.

Weirdly, there are some pretty prestigious names among the rank of players who have thrown six interceptions. Fitzpatrick has joined Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Joe Namath in throwing six picks in a single game. In fact, Broadway Joe did it on three separate occasions.

It doesn't get any easier for the Jets and Fitzpatrick unfortunately, as they welcome the Seattle Seahawks to MetLife Stadium next week.
