Everton are looking to end Yerry Mina's spell at Goodison Park and 'would accept an offer' when the transfer window reopens in January, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The centre-half has been on the Toffees' books since completing a £28.5million move from Barcelona four years ago, but it looks like his days on Merseyside are numbered.

What's the latest news involving Mina?

Mina made his first appearance since the opening day of the season when he started Everton's Carabao Cup third round defeat to Bournemouth on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old sustained an ankle ligament injury as the Toffees got their campaign underway with a 1-0 loss to Chelsea and had been on the treatment table since.

But Mina's return to action did not go to plan as Everton were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Bournemouth and boss Frank Lampard insisted his side's performance was 'not good enough'.

Meanwhile, there are doubts over the 39-cap Colombia international's long-term future at Goodison Park because of his current contract situation.

Mina will enter the final six months of his £120,000-per-week deal at the turn of the year, when he will be allowed to pen a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club.

What has Paul Brown said about Mina?

Brown believes Everton will be more inclined to sell Mina than Keane, who has gained interest from West Ham United, in the January transfer window.

The journalist feels the South American's lengthy periods on the sidelines, along with his contract nearing its expiry, has resulted in the Toffees being open to bids.

When asked whether Keane could be offloaded in January, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Everton would rather sell one of the other centre-backs if they could.

"I think Yerry Mina's age, injury situation and the contract situation mean he is someone they would accept an offer for."

Should Everton sell Mina in January?

Mina is currently Everton's highest-earner and, considering he is not at the forefront of Lampard's plans, it would make business sense to attempt to find a buyer during the winter window.

He has missed more than 50 fixtures due to various injuries since heading to Goodison Park and that woeful record will be incredibly worrying for Lampard.

The Toffees' biggest problem will be attempting to find a buyer for Mina, who has won the domestic titles in Spain, Brazil and his homeland.

Potential suitors will be put off by the defender's extensive spells out of action and, having made 93 appearances during his stint on Everton's books, he is more likely to leave as a free agent next summer.
