Everton have pulled off an ‘absolutely brilliant signing’ in the shape of winger Arnaut Danjuma, Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has told GiveMeSport.

The 25-year-old had been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League in recent weeks after impressing for Villarreal, but it is perhaps a surprise that Goodison Park is where he has ended up.

Everton transfer news – Arnaut Danjuma

Fabrizio Romano revealed that Everton had reached a ‘full agreement’ with the Yellow Submarine for Danjuma as they continue to search for ways to climb up the Premier League standings.

The Toffees have managed to prise the Netherlands international away from Villarreal on a short-term loan deal that doesn’t include the option to make his stay permanent.

Aston Villa had also been credited with an interest in Danjuma largely due to the connection with their manager Unai Emery, who worked with the versatile attacker during their time together at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

And Danjuma’s former side Bournemouth were also said to be keen on bringing him back to the south coast, but Everton have now won the race for his signature.

The creative talent still has three and a half years left to run on his current £34,000-per-week contract at Villarreal and may depart the La Liga outfit permanently in the summer.

What has Taylor said about Danjuma?

Taylor has disclosed to GMS that he believes Danjuma is an impressive addition to Everton’s ranks and that he’s surprised ‘another club hasn’t come in for him’.

He said: “I think Danjuma is an absolutely brilliant signing, and I'm shocked that another club hasn't come in for him really because he is top-quality.

“And Everton right now, with all due respect, and I mean this respectfully, who wants to play for a team where the fans are blocking you in your cars and confronting you?”

Will Danjuma be a good signing for Everton?

Danjuma fired Bournemouth back to the Premier League with his 17 strikes and seven assists in 35 Championship appearances throughout 2020/21 before elevating his game to new heights last term.

The left-winger, who can also play upfront, registered 16 goals and four assists in 34 outings for Villarreal as they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League under Emery.

Injuries have restricted Danjuma’s game time this term, but he has still found the back of the net on six occasions in his 17 games throughout 2022/23.

Danjuma, therefore, could be an extremely valuable addition to Everton’s forward line for the second half of the season as they look to propel themselves out of the relegation zone.
