It's still early in Jose Mourinho's reign at Manchester United but it appears the players are finding it harder to shake off Louis van Gaal's influence than most thought.
Thursday's Europa League match against Zorya Luhansk was another frustrating evening at Old Trafford and was very reminiscent of many of the team's performances under Mourinho's predecessor.
The Portuguese boss continued to leave Wayne Rooney out of the starting XI and returned to the central midfield partnership of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini.
It was that particular setup which Manchester City horribly exposed just a few weeks ago but Mourinho felt confident his side could still pick up a result against the Ukrainian minnows.
In Fellaini's absence from the starting XI, Ander Herrera has shone in a deeper role and many United fans were hoping to see the Spaniard selected once again.
Surprisingly, Mourinho went for the Belgian and didn't even include Herrera on the bench.
His tenacity and creativity was severely missed in the centre of midfield and again Pogba seemed less influential without Herrera alongside him.
Man United supporters were very angry at Mourinho's choice, here are some of the best tweets:
Mourinho's men were still able to nick the three points as a result of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's scrappy header in the second half but all in all, it was a disappointing display from the Red Devils.
After the defeat to Feyenoord two weeks ago, another but a win against Zorya would have given Man United an uphill task at trying to qualify from the group.
